Dylan: Five Months Old!

Dylan reached the five month mark this week. He is getting to be so much fun. He "talks" in his car seat. He can sit up for a few seconds unassisted. He is now eating baby food. I think his growing spurt has slowed some. He can now wear clothes more than once or twice again. He laughs with you now. It is so cute. I think that has to be my favorite new thing he has been doing.

This is my new favorite photo of him. Looove it!

Let's get personal.

You may have noticed some personal post here on my photography blog. When I originally thought I would one day start a photography blog I thought that is would only be about my photography business. Over the last year I have acquired quite a list of blogs, mostly photography ones, that I follow. The one thing that all my favorite ones have is that they include the daily trials and tribulations of the photographers. Some of these blogs include Jasmine Star, Jodie Allen, Lyndsay Stradtner, Lauren Clark, and Melissa Jill. I like these blogs because they are more than just photography, though they are all great and inspiring photographers. They talk about their kids, marriages or lack there of, trips, families and other daily ups and downs in life. Some use their blogs as a way to document their lives, kind of as an online journal as well as promoting and sharing their photography. They give me hope that if they can do it so can I. It is especially nice to know someone else can make with kids too. So if you find more content from my personal life on here you now know why. I have been thinking about this more lately so I thought I would post about, especially after reading this recent post by Jodie Allen.

Style of Photography.

Every photographer strives to develop their own unique style of photography. I thought I would post a little about my own style of photography. What I strive for in my photography is relaxed, spontaneous, and natural. I like to capture the moment as it happens. Some of my favorite photos are the moments when people are not posing for me or in between poses. I always have my finger on the shutter because you never know when that magic moment will happen.

This was taken when my husband was not paying attention. He was kissing noses with Dylan when he was a few weeks old. This is one of my favorites of them.

This is my grandma and Dylan the first time she met him. She was sitting in the corner feeding him when he fell asleep. I was watching her with him when this moment happened while everyone else was standing around talking and I got the shot.

You may remember this photo of my sister Rachel and her fiance Steve. My sister loves posing for the camera, so I just kept snapping away in between the posing. I got this shot of them sharing a moment. It was one of the best of I took that day.

I loved this session with Quinn, because I just got to follow him around being Quinn. This was the best relaxed, spontaneous and natural session I have done to date and I loved it.

Backyard Sunset.

I love my backyard. We live on the edge of town and our neighbors property behind us is outside of town limits. The property is a big hay field with a fence around it and trees in the background. We also have trees on our side of the fence. The best thing about the yard is that we get to see the best sunsets from it in that setting. I am pretty spoiled. All I have to do is look out the window if we have good color and then I run out with my camera and tripod and start snapping away. The pictures below were taken from my backyard a few weeks ago now. There were some really pretty clouds that added a lot of interest. Now to just find some place as close for sunrises.

Dylan: Four Months Old!

Well another month has gone by and it is time to post some Dylan pictures. My mom helped me get a few in between hospital visits. He has gone through quite a growing spurt this last month. He is about the same size now as his cousin was at nine months. He is going to be one big kid. He also learned how to screech this month. He likes being loud now.

Round Two.

Back to getting caught up again. After getting good news at a doctor's appointment in Lewiston Thursday morning, we had to make another trip to the emergency room Thursday night. Cory started having problems talking. He knew what he wanted to say, but it came out as jiberish. The doctors told us if anything like this happened to head to the ER. So we went to Orofino, where they determined that it was not a stroke. They decided it was either a seizure or damaged arteries from the accident. So they sent us to Lewiston, becasue they had the equipment to check for damaged arteries. There they determined that Cory's sodium levels were very low. They started him on an IV for that and gave him medicine for seizures. About a half hour later he was doing much better. They kept him there for two more days to get his sodium levels back up and watch the swelling in his brain from the accident. We got back home Saturday afternoon and he has been doing well. So keep your fingers crossed. Here is a happy, sunny photo as I need it right now.
